Aleksander von Humboldt

A zaczęło się od Humboldta...

....Aleksander von Humboldt urodził się 14 września 1769 r. w Berlinie i tam też umarł w dniu 6 maja 1859 r. Ukończył studia górnicze i geologiczne w Akademii Górniczej we Freiburgu 29 lutego 1792 r. Po studiach został zatrudniony w Departamencie Górnictwa i Hutnictwa. Jego wybitne zdolności sprawiły, że już 6 września 1792 r., na wniosek ministra górnictwa i hutnictwa Augusta von Hardenberga, objął nadzór nad górnictwem w dwóch księstwach frankońskich: Bayreuth i Ansbach.

....W latach 1804-1827 wydał ponad 30 tomów publikacji dotyczących głównie swoich licznych podróży. Przedstawiając własne obserwacje i odkrycia zapoczątkował piśmiennictwo, które dzisiaj określamy mianem - popularnonaukowe. To właśnie jego publikacje, pobudzające wyobraźnię, zachęciły do myślenia i dyskusji wiele następnych pokoleń uczonych. Zachęcony książkami Humboldta Karol Darwin wsiadł na pokład "Beagle" i udał się w wielką podróż, która zaowocowała sformułowaniem teorii ewolucji.

....W czasie, kiedy żył, pracował i publikował Darwin nie było jeszcze na świecie tzw. czasopism impaktowych. Aż dziw, że mimo to NAUKA rozwijała się nie najgorzej. Co więcej, to właśnie wówczas powstawały podwaliny dzisiejszej wiedzy i metodyki badań przyrodniczych, w tym również GEOLOGII.

....Darwin napisał łącznie 25 prac/dzieł (po prostu książek), które dzisiaj, zgodnie z klasyfikacją Władz Nauki, uznane musiałyby zostać za monografie, gdyż w pełni spełniają wymogi stawiane takowym. Może z jedną różnicą, mianowicie prace te nie były wówczes recenzowane w dzisiejszym znaczeniu tej procedury! Zrecenzowała je historia i rzetelność badawcza Uczonego. Recenzuje je cały czas rzeczywistość wokół nas. Czy monografie Darwina ukazałyby sie kiedykolwiek, gdyby podlegały analogicznym do dzisiaj obowiązujących procedurom recenzyjnym i klasyfikacyjnym?

..InInna kwestia dotyczy miejsca i sposobu publikacji dzieł Darwina. Może jednak prace te, jako nieopublikowane w żadnym z impaktowych czasopism (a warto podkreślić, że już wtedy mamy początki powstawania takowych, również o tematyce GEOLOGICZNEJ) nie są w pełni wartościowe? Może zawarte w nich tezy są wręcz nienaukowe? Uważam, że należałoby się bliżej tej sprawie przyjrzeć, a Darwina (i jemu podobnych) przynajmniej zlustrować. ;))

....PS. Ciekawe jednak, że Darwin napisał zaledwie 25 monografii, podczas gdy jemu i jego tezom poświęcono tysiące artykułów i książek. Co więcej, większość ich Autorów zaistniała w historii wyłącznie dlatego, że mogli odnieść się w swojej twórczości właśnie do Darwina.

Przez monografię należy rozumieć poważne, wielostronicowe opracowanie naukowe, opublikowane jako książka lub odrębny tom (wyjątkowo stanowiące jego znaczną część) czasopisma naukowego, będące twórczym i całościowym przedstawieniem określonego zagadnienia i zawierające nowe dla nauki wyniki badań uzyskanych przez autora, albo nowe, oryginalne koncepcje teoretyczne, przedstawione na tle dotychczasowego stanu wiedzy w omawianej dziedzinie; jako monografia może być przyjęty atlas lub inne opracowanie kartograficzne, a jako rozdział monografii mapa.
